I became this green blouse as a gift from a colleague and friend of mine a few months ago. It is a little bit challenging to combine it because of the color and the really dominant print. On the other side, that blouse still has not been seen that much and I love everything that is special. The good amount of black elements in the print allows me to create an office-appropriate outfit around this blouse. It’s all about choosing the black bottom which is the most appropriate for the office. I did some trials.
First of all, I decided to go for a skirt because I wanted the outfit to be feminine. The combination of dark green with black on the blouse creates a really stern and severe look. It has to be softened with feminine lines. So I just forgot about a combination with any sort of black pants no matter if skinny jeans or suit pants.
So, here are 4 outfits with different skirts. Which one would you choose for the office?
Shades of green
This is trendy, courageous, gorgeous. I wore it at the office once and I got some compliments. Well, not really compliments, but my outfit was a real small talk topic and some colleagues pointed out how creative it was. They did not say it looked nice, though. If you want to appear creative, special, and do not have a meeting on your schedule where you have to focus on the topic without allowing any small-talk or distraction, such a combination may be the right outfit for you.
Romantic forest
This look is really nice and the right one if you like your legs and want to put the focus on them. That look matches perfectly with dark green textured tights. The blouse shows your personality, the skirt is romantic because of the frills and the ensemble is really feminine and nice. You add to the romantic thing if you open the blouse a little bit to show the details of the lace top you wear underneath. But the skirt is definitely too short for the office and the frills do not let you look professional. I would go for this look for a romantic walk in the city park or for a dinner at the restaurant with my family.
Skirt BCBGeneration, belt h&m (old)
Pleated profi
That’s the perfect match for the office. the pleats go in the same direction as the dark parts printed on the blouse, black is the right color for this pleated skirt and the length lets you look polished, feminine and professional. And you can sit in any meeting without beeing worried about showing too much legs. One point : you have to wear heels for the outfit to turn very elegant and modern. Close the blouse for a more corporate look and in order not to distract your interlocutors.
Skirt Kookai
Too « harsh » for you
With this faux-fur short skirt (the length is the very limit for the office, I always wear that skirt with really opaque tights or leggings), the look becomes very « dangerous ». If you have a conflictual meeting on your schedule, or if you want to make a point, this might be the right outfit. But be careful, with this outfit you look unapproachable and you could dread some sensible people . Not the best look to network at the coffee break.
